{"id":570,"date":"2019-05-14T04:28:50","date_gmt":"2019-05-14T08:28:50","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/jausoft.com\/blog\/?p=570"},"modified":"2019-05-14T04:40:45","modified_gmt":"2019-05-14T08:40:45","slug":"oracle-javatm-8u202-last-supported-version-for-jogamp","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/jausoft.com\/blog\/2019\/05\/14\/oracle-javatm-8u202-last-supported-version-for-jogamp\/","title":{"rendered":"Oracle Java[tm] 8u202 last supported version for JogAmp"},"content":{"rendered":"<h1>Oracle Binary Code License<\/h1>\n<p>Around January 2019, Oracle made its last Java[tm] release, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.oracle.com\/technetwork\/java\/javaseproducts\/documentation\/8u202-revision-builds-relnotes-5243968.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">namely 8u202<\/a>, under their <a href=\"https:\/\/www.oracle.com\/technetwork\/java\/javase\/terms\/license\/index.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Oracle Binary Code License Agreement for the Java SE Platform Products and JavaFX<\/a>, last updated 21 September 2017.<\/p>\n<p>This binary license still allows personal and commercial users to use and distribute their binary freely, i.e. commercially use the JDK + JRE, bundle the application w\/ the JRE and even distribute the JDK unchanged within an <em>electronic magazine<\/em>.<!--more--><\/p>\n<h1>Oracle Technology Network License<\/h1>\n<p>Thereafter, starting April 16, 2019, Oracle made their Java[tm] builds available under the new <a href=\"https:\/\/www.oracle.com\/technetwork\/java\/javase\/terms\/license\/javase-license.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Oracle Technology Network License Agreement for Oracle Java SE<\/a>, last updated: April 10, 2019.<\/p>\n<p>This new license doesn&#8217;t allow commercial use or even bundling of their new binary builds.<\/p>\n<h1>JogAmp&#8217;s Java[tm] Support<\/h1>\n<p>Therefor, the <a href=\"https:\/\/jogamp.org\/\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" target=\"_blank\">JogAmp project<\/a> is not capable to support Oracle Java[tm] builds with the new license under our free software work. Only exception would be special sponsorship to support said new licensed Oracle Java[tm] builds.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/jogamp.org\/\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" target=\"_blank\">JogAmp<\/a> continues to support <a href=\"http:\/\/openjdk.java.net\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">OpenJDK<\/a> builds, like <a href=\"https:\/\/adoptopenjdk.net\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">AdoptOpenJDK<\/a>.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Oracle Binary Code License Around January 2019, Oracle made its last Java[tm] release, namely 8u202, under their Oracle Binary Code License Agreement for the Java SE Platform Products and JavaFX, last updated 21 September 2017.
