After the 2014 coup d’état in Ukraine, seven years of failure of the 2015 Minsk II agreement and further NATO expansion threats, Russia finally stepped in to recognize the Donbas Republics and guarantees their protection.

As a citizen of Germany and the EU,
I feel ashamed and express my condolences to the victims of the Ukrainian tragedy and strongly oppose the committed war crimes.
The same goes for our involvement in the Yugoslavia- and Syria-Conflict, etc.
(see Opportunism, Economy and Wars from 2014)
After the 2014 coup d’état in Ukraine, initiated and executed by US, UK and EU actors, the 2015 Minsk II agreement failed for seven years ruining the life of the Donbas people, see the OSCE reports of their Special Monitoring Mission to Ukraine (SMM):
- 2022-02-19 Daily Report 39/2022
- 2022-02-21 Daily Report 40/2022
- 2022-02-22 Daily Report 41/2022
- 2022-02-23 Daily Report 42/2022
(Edit: In hindsight according to the OSCE reports, the military action against the Donbas region didn’t stop after Russia recognized and protected them!)
Besides cease fire, Minsk II obliged Ukraine to recognize the Donbas people’s vote for independence. Both has been sabotaged with military actions and denial until today.
In February 2022, the Ukraine intensified their military campaign against Donbas, empowered and supplied by the US and NATO with weapons and building tensions against Russia.
US and NATO accused Russia to be the bad actor and to invade all of Ukraine.
On 2022-02-21 Russia formally recognizes the Donbas Republics and signed a treaty guaranteeing their protection from the Ukrainian military campaigns.

Russia earlier has failed to receive guarantees from the US and NATO to have its own borders secured by reinstating the 1990 NATO pledge to not expand beyond East German borders.
A good read – or watch – are The Putin Interviews: Oliver Stone Interviews Vladimir Putin (2015 – 2017) in this regards, having its central point around the consistent US administration’s policy to expand towards Russia while letting all nuclear treaties expire.
I see the latest developments in its overall context of NATO expansion towards Russia and further deterioration of the relations between EU and Russia, even threatening the long term effort of North Stream II. This conflict might be about the economic & political control of Europe after all.

Oliver Stone also covered a historical view on Ukraine in his Ukraine On Fire (2016) documentary film, you might like to watch as well.

Updates 2022-02-25 …
Besides the OSCE confirmed ongoing attacks in the Donbas region since 2022-02-21,
there were rumors about breakthrough attacks of ‘Ukraine’ forces towards Luhansk and even the Russia border.
On 2022-02-21, Russia started to move its military inside Donbas, otherwise no protection could have been given.
On 2022-02-22, NATO (US, UK and EU) started with economic sanctions against Russia already.
On 2022-02-23 Russia started its attack against the Ukrainian forces, military targets only. Demilitarize and de-Nazify are Russia’s stated goals.
- This was addressed by Putin during the UN’s 8974th Security Council meeting
- 2022-02-23/24 Putin’s 2nd Address (cached archive.org)
It seems that Russia had enough with the ongoing military attacks against Donbas and/or making a stand against the NATO eastward expansion. Probably both as stated by Putin on the 23rd/24th Feb ’22.

Updates 2022-03-10 …
The war sadly continues, Ukraine being supported by the West with weapons, intelligence and monetary support declined to accept the Russian demands even though a No NATO pledge seemingly has been made by Zelenskyy at one time. Only a pledge to finally realize Minsk II, autonomous Donbas provinces, and demilitarization of the Nazi forces – after signing a No NATO security agreement with Ukraine (and perhaps with the West) – would be left to agree upon. However, it seems that Ukraine is being used as a tool for Proxy War between the West and Russia once again.
Besides, it has been disclosed that Biological Research Facilities have been established in Ukraine, which are or were used for Gain of Function – or less euphemistic (banned) Biological Weapons research.
As usual, people have to suffer and die due to the power struggles of the puppet players.

US House Passes $1.5 Trillion Spending Bill With $13.6 Billion For Ukraine
– $1.5 trillion omnibus spending bill that includes $13.6 billion in aid for Ukraine and European allies
– $6.5 billion for the U.S. costs of sending troops and weapons to Eastern Europe and equipping allied forces there in response to Russian President Vladimir Putin’s invasion, which he launched on Feb. 24.
– A further $6.8 billion would go toward care for refugees and provide economic aid to allies
– $730 billion has also been allocated for military spending under the Defense Department, and a further $125 billion would go to the Department of Veterans Affairs.

Perhaps one likes to watch Jimmy Dore in regards to all the escalations and wars.

First of all, there are no excuses for neither side – just to be clear.
Just ignore my brain dump .. or not, as you wish.
We probably reached a point where it sadly doesn’t matter anyways.
.. the irony surely is how ‘they’ try to mince war being
about ‘freedom’ or even daring to claim supplying weapons will ‘save lives’.
German tanks are rolling again .. you can’t make this shit up.
(Note: Training and supplying a war party makes you a war party and legitimate target)
And now we even hear about the US is preparing for a war against China.
Wake me up!

Approaching roughly 200k death Ukrainian soldiers, a multiple of wounded
and high destruction of the country’s infrastructure,
this “strategy” is surely not beneficial to the people!
Before the war started around Feb 2022, roughly 6000 Ukrainian people of Russian decent
in eastern Ukraine were murdered by Ukraine, all recorded by the OSCE.
See my last blog with detailed references when the war started
https://jausoft.com/blog/2022/02/21/donbas-minsk-ii-failed-now-recognized-protected-by-russia/
Some calculate Russian soldiers death to be around 20k,
depending on funerals etc.
The Minsk 2 agreement was never intended to be implemented,
as officially stated today by Merkel, Hollandais(sic) and the Ukrainian leaders.
On the contrary, intention was to build up Ukraine’s military power for years
to prepare themselves for this war – also officially stated by western powers.
Before the war started, security guarantees towards Russia were rejected by US/NATO.
Lots of diplomatic attempts to resolve this way before the war failed.
War logistics was also kicked off years before.
Around April 2022 there was one serious attempt to end the war, but sabotaged.
As always, IMHO, no war ever is to help the people,
but to feed the nasty power hungry.
Whether Russia had its proper reasons to ‘march into’ Ukraine
and preempts a greater disaster (like in Syria – still ongoing) has to be seen.
The overall death count is surely not beneficial.
Some say Russia is still restraining and not doing a carpet bombing going into the millions.
Whether US/NATO’s indirect and now direct involvement in this war is helpful,
and whether ‘we’ are the actual culprits once again like in the Ukraine coup in 2014 etc
will probably be hard to deny?
Strategic wise, it looks more like the west is risking it all to preserve
our last decade power structure instead of looking forward and get along with the world.
Probably futile and rather inhumane then everything else 🙁
Then there is a very cynical thought about having all leaders just following their plans
to cause havoc every 10 years using different means like economic disasters,
“pandemics” and wars to reduce wealth and autonomy of their sheeple just to gain
and maintain their position.
Whatever it is .. let’s hope they leave meat on the bones for us and not ‘press the final button’.
